Advanced catheter training & assessment
Two-stage training and competency assessment program
Advoc8’s catheter care program is delivered as a comprehensive, two-stage training and competency assessment designed to safely transition skills from controlled clinical practice to real-world application.
In Stage 1, participants attend Advoc8’s premises for hands-on, scenario-based instruction using advanced anatomical simulation models under the direct supervision of a Lead Registered Nurse. Once participants have mastered initial technical skills, sterile techniques, and emergency protocols in the simulation lab, they progress to Stage 2. By mutual arrangement and with explicit participant consent, an Advoc8 RN conducts a live clinical observation in the field, evaluating the support worker or nurse as they deliver care to a real participant.
This dual-stage framework provides complete assurance to participants, providers, and agencies that clinical skills have been rigorously validated from simulation mastery to safe, live-environment execution.

State-of-the-art simulation equipment
To deliver the highest standard of practical training, Advoc8 utilises advanced, industry-leading pelvic simulation models. Engineered for maximum anatomical realism, these models allow support workers and nurses to practice tactile skills, refine sterile techniques, and master catheterisation in a zero-risk environment.

Simulation features & specifications
-
Male & Female Anatomical Features: Incorporates representative male and female pelvic anatomy—including foreskin, labia, and urethral meatus—to facilitate accurate site preparation and insertion practice.
-
Urethral Pathway & Resistance: Designed with a urethral path and sphincter resistance to provide tactile feedback during catheter passage, balloon positioning, and fluid return verification.
-
Internal Anatomy & Scenarios: Includes internal landmarks such as the bladder, pubic bone, pre-ported suprapubic (SPC) site, and vaginal vault, allowing trainers to demonstrate correct placement, simulate common procedural errors, and practice remediation.
-
Aseptic Technique Support: Equipped with non-drip valves, reusable catheter sleeves, and simulated lubricant to support training in Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT) and infection control protocols.
-
Anatomical Visualisation: Features compatible AR technology and removable modules to view the internal catheter pathway and review underlying pelvic structures.
Important Note
Advoc8 Health Support Services is not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Upon successful completion of your session, you will receive a Certificate of Competency issued by our Registered Nurses.
